The peoples march for the NHS: Jarrow to Westminster, 300 miles.
On the 16th August, the people you see in the pictures below, me and a number of others set off from Jarrow (near Newcastle) to walk to Westminster, we walked every day for 21 days, sometimes up to 20 miles at a time and at night camping in church halls and community centres . We all had our personal reasons why we wanted to be part of this campaign to save the NHS but we were also united in our grief and concern that the cornerstone of health and quality of life in the UK is being rapidly broken up and privatised.
We arrived in Trafalgar square 3 weeks later having walked the length of England and having met thousands of other people who agreed with us and marched with us. It was an education, a pleasure and an honour to share a small part of my life with such an amazing bunch of people.
This page only shows the core marchers, many others joined us, at times on different legs of the journey, thousands. For my reasons for marching please click HERE
