In the Parliamentary debate on tax avoidance the current Windsor MP defended the work of tax inspectors and the status quo. However I would argue that public servants will only do their job effectively when given the right tools and enough skilled staff for the job.
It is well known that £Billions of tax go uncollected in the UK because of umbrella corporation and hedge fund loop holes. The tools that are needed by HMRC to collect our money have not been provided by this Government. Indeed the ConDems have introduced even more tax allowances since they have been in office. A study made by the Financial Times said “Measures put in place by Labour during its 13 years in power to counter corporate tax avoidance are projected to raise TEN TIMES as much over the next four years as those introduced by the current coalition government.”
As one of the many Brits who are proud to have worked full time and paid full tax since the age of 16 it baffles me why the Tory and LibDem parties think it can ever be acceptable to be lackadaisical on this issue. The days are gone when the public are poorly informed or unable to access the information. Politicians can no longer pull the wool over our eyes.
If elected in May I will join a Labour Government that will ensure that corporations making vast profits from the UK pay full tax in the UK: Nothing less will be acceptable.
